Going up against juggernauts like Baldur’s Gate 3, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2 managed to walk away with the Best Game Direction trophy at The Game Awards 2023. Though Remedy’s Sam Lake was hurried off-stage after just 30 seconds, this moment is undoubtedly a highlight of Remedy’s entire history, with the studio’s wholly unique shared vision being the thing that secured them this award.
